Bourbon Highway is a refreshing take on country music, well-known for their catchy, original songs that dab in traditional, modern, and outlaw country music, red-dirt, and southern rock. Bourbon Highway is also known for putting their own trademark spin on several popular songs from multiple genres of music. Just a few artists covered by Bourbon Highway include: Luke Bryan, Merle Haggard, Poison, George Strait, Bob Dylan, Stoney LaRue, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Eric Church.
Award winning, BMI registered songwriter: JJ Taylor, fronts Bourbon Highway as lead vocalist and guitarist, keeping the band loaded with plenty of original songs-- from fun, up-beat, get-your-body-moving tunes to soothing ballads. Jon “Wookie” Buckhorn lays down the funky groove and brings his vocal harmonies with gospel and blues roots to the band as Bourbon Highway’s bass guitarist and backup vocalist. While JJ’s younger brother, Tristan Lee Taylor, is the newest member of the group, he has definitely found a permanent home on a drum throne mixing up the beats that drive Bourbon Highway. Also an award winner himself, Tristan brings a combination of Neil Peart and Jimmy “The Rev” Sullivan to the stage, giving this country music group a razor sharp edge that will keep fans wanting more!
Individually and collectively, Bourbon Highway has been impacting live music fans and catching the attention of companies and organizations all over the globe. The band has an endorsement with prime-Vibe; JJ Taylor has an endorsement with the 1 in 6 organization with their 1 Blue String campaign, along with being signed with performance rights group Broadcast Music, Inc (BMI) since 2012. Tristan has competed in Guitar Center competitions. Bourbon Highway is recognized by the Oklahoma Film and Music Office as an official Oklahoma Country Music group, and has performed at charity events for Special Olympics, Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), American Cancer Society, and many other private charity events.
